Melanie is the Director of the National Council of America's Second Harvest – The Nation's Food Bank Network. Prior to this position, Melanie was the Executive Director of the Leyden Area United Way, part of United Way in the greater Chicago area. Melanie started her career as a Presidential Management Intern with the U.S. Treasury Department in Washington, DC. She was with the Treasury Department for seven years, with her last position being Chief of the Budget Office for the Office of the Secretary of the Treasury. Melanie received a MPA from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from the University of North Dakota. She volunteers at a local food pantry, is a member of Chicago Women in Philanthropy, and is a coordinator for the Maxwell Alumni Association in Chicago.
