Tenure Track, Assistant Professor in Department of Public Policy and Administration
A full member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA), the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) invites applicants for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Policy and Administration. The position will start in Fall 2026. Candidates should have Ph.D. in Public Policy, Public Affairs, Public Administration, or a related field (e.g., Economics, Planning, Urban Affairs, Environmental Studies, Political Science, and others). We are looking for candidates whose research emphasis is broadly aligned with FIU’s strategic focus area of environment and environmental resilience. We take a holistic approach to resilience research encompassing environmental policy and planning, environmental/climate finance, disaster management, innovative technological solutions (e.g., clean energy), sustainable development, and related areas.. Candidates should have a strong record of, or a demonstrated capacity for scholarly publications and external research support. ABD candidates will be considered with the expectation that the Ph.D. is completed before the start date.
The Department of Public Policy and Administration offers the Bachelor of Public Policy and Administration, Master of Public Administration, and Ph.D. in Public Affairs. Its undergraduate and Master’s level instruction is conducted through online, face-to-face, and hybrid modalities. The faculty is nationally and internationally renowned for the quality of its teaching, research, and service; they are currently engaged in cutting-edge applications of emerging data and public policy analytics in sustainability and in disaster preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation. The Master of Public Administration is accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) and is the highest ranked MPA program in South Florida. Alumni manage public and nonprofit organizations throughout South Florida and nationwide. The Ph.D. in Public Affairs was FIU’s first doctorate, and graduates include faculty at Georgetown University, Florida State University, University of Washington, and Penn State University.
