The Boston City Council serves as the elected legislative body for the City of Boston. The Council is comprised of 13 members, 4 at large and 9 district. The Central Staff is the professional support staff for the Council as a body and its committees, providing administrative support such as personnel and purchasing services, as well as policy and legal research and financial analysis. Central Steff serve as committee liaisons to the Council's more than 20 committees, providing administrative support, research and pro-active issue spotting based on review of data and current events.
